Trump Says Military Builds "Big Complex" Beneath White House Ballroom
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling to Washington, he stated, "The military is building a massive complex under the ballroom, and that’s under construction, and we’re doing very well, so we’re ahead of schedule." He further explained the relationship between the two structures, adding, “It’s part of it; the ballroom essentially becomes a shed for what’s being built under.”
As indicated by reports, Trump had previously unveiled plans for a 90,000-square-foot ballroom project, with an estimated cost of $400 million. He emphasized that the development is progressing efficiently, saying, "We're ahead of schedule and under budget. All of the money is paid by myself and donors."
He also stressed that no public funds are being used for the ballroom, stating, "Trump said there is 'not one dime' of government money going into the ballroom."
The president noted that the structure will incorporate advanced protective features, including reinforced materials. "The ballroom will have 'all bulletproof glass' and 'drone-proof roofs, ceilings.'" He added, "Everything is drone-proof and bulletproof, and unfortunately, we’re living in an age where that’s a good thing."
