Georgia PM, Rubio Hold Phone Talks on Ties

(MENAFN) Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held talks Monday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with both sides pledging to deepen bilateral relations and reinforce Georgia's strategic footing in a volatile region.

Kobakhidze described the call as a turning point for Georgia-US engagement, taking to US social media platform X to share his readout: "We empasized the importance of resetting our partnership and reinforcing Georgia's role as a strong partner in the South Caucasus. Committed to strengthening Georgia-U.S. ties and advancing regional stability and connectivity."

The prime minister added that both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional stability and expanding connectivity across the South Caucasus.

The US State Department offered its own account of the exchange, noting that Rubio and Kobakhidze also explored shared priorities spanning security in the Caucasus and the strategically significant Black Sea region.
