Colorado High School Shooting Leaves Student Attacker Dead

(MENAFN) A gun attack on Wednesday at a secondary school in the US state of Colorado resulted in the student assailant’s death and left two other individuals in critical condition, according to a local account.

Referring to information from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, a news agency’s report stated that the event unfolded at Evergreen High School shortly after noon.

The wounded students were taken to St. Anthony Hospital, where one of them continues to be in critical condition, the report mentioned.

Authorities confirmed that the alleged gunman, whose name has not been disclosed, died from a self-inflicted firearm injury.

"I don't know if our suspect is even old enough to drive," remarked Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office representative Jacki Kelley.

Officials indicated that the suspect carried a revolver during the attack.

In a public statement, Colorado Governor Jared Polis expressed deep sorrow over the event.

"My heart goes out to the victims and their families as they grapple with this senseless act of violence," Polis said.

Following the incident, hundreds of law enforcement officers swarmed the campus, inspecting each classroom, authorities noted.
