World Bank Pledges USD250M for Lebanon’s Post-Attack Reconstruction

(MENAFN) Lebanese Finance Minister Yassine Jaber formalized a $250 million loan agreement with the World Bank on Tuesday to aid the reconstruction of infrastructure devastated by recent Israeli assaults, the Finance Ministry announced.

The funding will create a dedicated reconstruction fund targeting critical infrastructure, such as roads, electricity and water networks, schools, and hospitals.

Jaber described the deal as "an important first step toward reconstruction," highlighting additional support Lebanon has received, including $20 million from Iraq and a €75 million ($87 million) commitment from France.

The initial tranche from the World Bank aims to back urgent projects within the next 18 to 24 months to facilitate the return of displaced residents, reopen public institutions, and restore vital services.

The loan agreement will soon be submitted to Lebanon’s parliament for final approval.
