Helicopter Crash Claims Three Lives in Britain

(MENAFN) Police confirmed Monday that three individuals have died and one remains in serious condition following a helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight in Britain.

"We can confirm that three people have died following a helicopter crash on the Isle of Wight this morning. Four people in total were on board, with one person currently in hospital in a serious condition," the police said in an official statement.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has launched a formal inquiry into the incident.

"We will not be commenting on the circumstances of the incident but continue to work alongside the Air Accident Investigation Branch," the police added.

Northumbria Helicopters, the operator of the crashed aircraft, verified that its helicopter was involved in the accident near the Shanklin area of the Isle of Wight. The company noted that the flight "was undertaking a flying lesson."

Emergency responders were dispatched at 09:24 local time (0824 GMT), according to police. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance service confirmed one patient was airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at University Hospital Southampton.
